SHARON L WADE
PRESIDENT
DEPT OF MS VFWA
FEBRUARY 2020

January and Mid Winter Conference have come and gone.  I hope all that attended had a wonderful time and also learned something from our meetings.
February is a full month for yours truly.  I will be heading to Kansas City February 9-12, 2020, with Aletta Butler to attend the Sr. Vice President’s Conference as her Secretary for 2020-2021.  Then on February 19, 2020, I will have the pleasure as your President to attend Madam National President Peggy Haake’s Celebrating America’s Freedom Event (CAFÉ) and Mid Winter Conference in Hawaii, we will return home on February 25, 2020.
As I started typing this I checked our Membership and we are sitting at 94.99% as of 11:30pm on February 6, 2020.  I think that is awesome.  Please check your membership list and see who has not paid – some may be unable to pay (they may be in nursing home or have been sick – if this is the case check with them to see if your auxiliary could possibly pay it for them this year.) Some with holidays etc may have just forgotten and need a nice reminder. We have the opportunity to be 100%+ by June 30, 2020. Please continue to work toward this goal – remember there are twelve possible members from one Veteran.
In this mailing is a bulletin from Donna Devlin Perkins who has taken over for Emily Henry as the Americanism Ambassador for the rest of this Auxiliary year.  Look for her information and be sure to send Americanism reports to her.  Remember if you voted in our local elections in November that counts as a report.  If you attended a Veteran’s Day event at a school or public event – that counts.  Flying a flag at your home is Americanism!!
Be sure and check your dates for your April District meetings and elections.  You have to have elected your District Delegates at least 30 days prior to your District Convention – One (1) delegate and one (1) alternate for each 15 members or fraction thereof in good standing in the Auxiliary at the time of the election of Delegates. You will receive from Kim Trochessett, Department Secretary a sheet telling you how many delegates you have for your District meeting. There has been some discussion about number of delegates - District, Department, and National delegates are all different. Department Treasurer Benita Lyman will send you your Delegate list when the time comes for Department Convention and elections. National will have how many delegates each Auxiliary has in Malta, and you will have to go on line to register them.
Keep up the good work and continue to WADE IN – HONOR SUPPORT VETERANS!

Yours in Service,

Sharon

 169 Members to be 100 %

Calling ALL Auxiliary members!!!

This is our number as of today. We stand at 94.93% and I believe we can find 169 new or rejoin members to make 100%.Don’t you?
Most of us joined this organization simply as the spouse or dependent of our veteran.  Then we began to learn about this great group. The VFW and VFW Auxiliary is an organization that exists as a non-profit service organization. Our ultimate goal is to be an active voice on Capitol Hill and our local communities for the rights and benefits for our country’s heroes, our veterans. As members, we learn to look beyond ourselves and experience the wonder of making a difference.  Ken Blanchard stated, “There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses – only results.”  Let’s all renew our commitment, go out and find those new or rejoin members and train them in our vision.
Please let me know if you have recruited 5, 10 or 20 members.  I really would like to acknowledge your efforts.  I am proud of you and all you are doing.  At this point, I still have only one written report and one verbal report.
As this year quickly comes to an end, let’s get those new members trained and involved so that they will be interested in taking a position during our elections in April. Get them involved.
I am only a call away.  Please let me help you.
Remember we have a Council of Administration in March. Please make plans to come, learn and have fun.

See you there!!!   Dianne

Hello Everyone,
Our veterans and active duty military should be on the very top of our priority list. After all, they’re the reason we have the freedom that we have to do what we do. There are numerous opportunities to explore ways to advocate for them. Let’s all reach out and advocate for our heroes; touch someone and make a better place for all of them. Not just our veterans and active duty military but their families and our communities.
REMEMBER ALL OUR PRIORITY GOALS! ALL OF THEM ARE IMPORTANT.
     Report, report, report!
If you don’t subscribe to the VFW Action Corps Weekly, I strongly urge you to do so.  That is the best way of keeping up with what’s going on in Washington.
Thanks,
Shearon (Sherrye) Saucier
