This week, my long-time paper arts friend, Janice Alvord, shared some of her recent watercolor paintings and I'm happy she has permitted me to share here!
I have a lovely story about how I know Janice, although its been so long, I'm now struggling to remember the timeline! Back in (I think) 2003? 2006?, three rubber stamping enthusiasts (that's what the hobby was called back then), started the Rubber Stamp Club of CNY held at the Town of Schroepel in Phoenix, NY. Besides me, one of the founders was Karen Barber, Janice's daughter! Back in those days, we would see crowds of 30 plus participants at a cost of $3 per person!!!! With the success of that club, I soon started a second club in Bridgeport, NY at a community center that was no bigger than a one-room school house! It is there that I met Janice. Janice soon started a rubber stamp club in Camden, NY at the Rod and Gun Club that is still going strong to this day where I have the pleasure of guest instructing occasionally.
Meanwhile, as I was discovering the wonderful world of watercolor in 2016, Janice was also dipping her paintbrush in that medium as well and we both discovered our love of painting along the way and enjoy sharing our work with each other. She takes classes at a local studio right in Camden and it's been great seeing her style evolve.
