SICTC and School to Work
2hr delay Announcement
|
|
** WCSC SNOW DAY / DELAY POLICY **
School Cancellation or School Delay—by 5:45 a.m., the School Superintendent and Transportation Director will make a decision regarding school delay or cancellation. This information will be posted on the WCSC website, put onto Black Board Connect (parent calling system), and information will be called in to local TV and radio media. If no announcement is made by 5:45 a.m., school will be held on regular schedule.
Parents should have a plan (childcare, alternate place for student to go in case of early dismissal, etc.) for each of the following events which could affect the length of school day:
No School — 2-hour Delay — Early Dismissal.
Make sure your child--and all involved in alternate plans--understand your family’s plan for winter weather and/or severe weather. Be sure to discuss this plan and reiterate to your child where he/she is to go in case school dismisses early.
When school is cancelled, here is how extracurricular activities, including athletic events and practices, will be affected—
Middle/High School:
1st Day Out/Missed—no practices /no games…only under extenuating circumstances (sectionals, holiday tournaments, etc.) will exceptions be made; these will be determined on a case-by-case basis, as designated by the Superintendent of Schools.
Multiple Days Out—VOLUNTARY practices at high school level only: no player shall be penalized for not attending such extracurricular practices, since school is not in session due to poor road conditions. Again, coaches/sponsors are required to obtain the Superintendent’s permission to hold such voluntary practices/events.
Elementary School:
When school is out, there will be no extracurricular events, practices or games (school-related or external—e.g., BYBA, feeder teams, etc.) held at the elementary schools.
