Surrey International Folk Dancing Society Newsletter
Hi <<First Name>>,
Tomorrow we will have a Valentine's Day inspired program. Please wear red or pink to add to the ambience!
Several dances tie for second place in our poll, and Man Shan Chun Se (Spring Colors On Mountain) is among them. I'm choosing this dance to work on tomorrow. As it turns out, it fits our Valentine's theme very nicely!
Please continue to vote in the poll as many times as you like. Votes will keep accumulating. I'll be sure to learn the top voted dance to teach each Thursday. You can also add a dance of your choice! All the Retreat videos are here, or can be watched on the poll page, or you can follow the link to YouTube. Thanks!
Registration is now open for the Lyrids Folk Dance Festival 2020 which is April 24-26 in Vancouver. Read all about it, and register soon! Want a good deal? We need some people to help out (~ 5 hrs during the weekend) at the festival - register for a work-exchange scholarship (check that option on the registration form) and get in for half price! See fees here. Another option is to help exclusively. Experience the vibe of the festival, help at the registration desk, help serving snacks, and/or help at the festival market as needed. This would cost you nothing, you would get meals, and you might be able to do some of the dancing during quiet moments. Ask me!
Extra events are optional and are listed here for your information. If a couple of hours of dancing once a week on Thursdays is as much as you want or can manage, that is fine!

The Squalicum Yacht club is the smaller of the two Yacht Clubs side by side on S. Harbor Loop Drive. (South Harbor Loop Drive is connected in a circle with North Harbor Loop Drive.)
How to get there:
From the North, go South on I-5, take the Meridian Street Exit and turn right. From Meridian, take the 3rd right (2nd traffic light) onto Squalicum Way. Follow Squalicum Way and it will merge onto Roeder Street. Shortly thereafter, there will be signs for Squalicum Harbor and Coho Way. Take a right onto Coho Way. The very first possible right turn which is identified with a street sign "N. Harbor Loop Drive", take that right and at the end of that very short road you are in a parking lot. If you would turn left you will see the Squalicum Yacht Club in front of you.
From the South, you can take Holly Street through town to "F" Street. Turn left onto F street toward the water and across the train tracks to Roeder. Turn right onto Roeder Ave Continue on Roeder to Coho Way (City Mac Store) Turn Left onto Coho Way. The first possible right is "N. Harbor Loop Drive". Take that right and drive that short "road" to the end, and turn left into the parking Lot. The small building in front of you is the Squalicum Yacht Club.
