Team Explorer Adds Capabilities for Latest DARPA Robotics Contest

Maneuvering wheeled robots up and down stairwells and flying drones slim enough to slip through narrow doorways and tough enough to survive collisions are among the new capabilities Team Explorer, which includes researchers from Carnegie Mellon University and Oregon State University, has added for the latest competition in the DARPA Subterranean Challenge.

Proof of Concept — The Prototype Development Lab turns dreams into reality

Welcome to the Prototype Development Lab. “We like to build things that work,” says John Parmigiani, the lab’s director and associate professor of mechanical engineering at Oregon State University. This think tank for innovation turns ideas into new products and meets needs for consumers and companies.

Getting the Most from Undergraduate Research (RSVP)

This workshop is designed for students who are looking for tips and tricks on how to succeed in their undergraduate research experience and how to leverage these experiences for future successes. 'Science of Opportunity' with NASA's Donald R. Pettit (Register)

Selected for the NASA Astronaut Corps in 1996, Donald R. Pettit ('78 B.S., Chemical Engineering) is a veteran of three spaceflights, including a six-month stay aboard the International Space Station. Pettit is celebrated for his contributions to the space program as a staff scientist and flight engineer — not the least of which is his invention of the zero-gravity coffee cup. Join us as he delivers the Octave Levenspiel Distinguished Lecture, presented by the School of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering.

American Water Works Association Scholarships

These scholarships are intended for students whose major coursework may point them toward a career in the public water supply industry. Eligible academic areas include but are not limited to water supply operation/technology, civil or environmental engineering, or public administration/finance. REU opportunity: Training the next generation in digital manufacturing and mass timber buildings

The Department of Wood Science and Engineering at OSU, with support from the US Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s Education and Literacy Initiative, is offering 12-week research and extension experiences for 10 undergraduate students during the summer of 2020. The sky is the limit for topics of these experiences.
