Two Are Better Than One.
Two nonprofit organizations, HCEOC and Hope Services, along with the County of Hawai'i Mayor's Office have negotiated a transportation service contract. This agreement will bring HCEOC's Transportation Services to meet the needs of Hope Services clients.
Access to transportation is a key factor in addressing poverty and homelessness. Without dependable, safe and frequent transportation options for getting to work, social services, healthcare, and education is just another challenge to overcome for those already struggling.
This partnership combines the resources of two nonprofits and county government to work toward generating maximum value and contribute towards sustainable goals for everyone involved.
As part of HCEOC's way forward, Interim Executive Director Chad Hasegawa noted: "HCEOC is looking at partnerships, both conventional and unconventional that create equity, transparency and mutual benefit." Additionally, he commented, "We are excited to work with Hope Services, partnerships like this bring our resources together to support practical strategies to reduce poverty on Hawai'i island."
