PK Newsletter - February 13, 2020

Joining Jesus on His Mission

After a student in 2nd grade was asked to apologize to some classmates, the classmates demonstrated the love and forgiveness Christ offers us. They responded with saying "we forgive you" and then proceeded to give the student a hug. What joy we have that because Christ forgives us, we can forgive others.

Thank You!!!

The 11th Annual John Z Classic 5-6th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament was a fantastic success!  Thank you to all the school families, congregation members, and friends of Our Redeemer who gave of their time and efforts at the admissions table, the concession stand, the scoring table, those who donated desserts, meal items, and monetary gifts, running the halftime hoop shoot, the set up and cleanup crews, and especially for the many thoughts and prayers.

PK & Kindergarten Registration for 2020-2021

Registration for PK and Kindergarten classes for the 2020-2021 is open!

Registration forms must be submitted in person to the school office, and include a $50 registration fee for each PK student. (There is no registration fee for Kindergarten.) Registration forms are available in the school and church offices.

Do you have family or friends who are looking for a Christian Preschool or Kindergarten for their child(ren)? Please pass this along to them and tell them all the great things about Our Redeemer Lutheran School!

Jump Rope for Heart

Our Redeemer Lutheran School is once again participating in Jump Rope for Heart (for grades K-8) – our team event is on Friday, February 28th at 6pm.

We have also officially kicked off our Kids Heart Challenge service learning project. Kids Heart Challenge focuses on heart-healthy habits while giving students the opportunity to help others in our community. Please be sure to ask your child about our service learning project and what they can do to make a difference. The first part of the Kids Heart Challenge is to encourage students to take care of their own hearts by making healthy choices. Participation is simple. All you have to do is help your student Register Online and then take Finn’s heart challenge. When registered, students will choose to work on one of three things: “Be Ready”; “Be Kind” and/or “Move More”. Students will then be able to login daily to keep their STREAK going!

Please help our school & teachers earn money toward our classroom health and wellness goals by clicking the link below and following the instructions!

If you do plan to send cards, please make sure that you send one for everyone in your child(ren)'s class!

See the website below for more information.

Exploration Celebration

There are about 30 days to go before the big event! (It's on Sunday, March 15th!)

  • Please share that with your child's teacher so we can accommodate that need.
Have fun!

Follett Book Fair

Our Redeemer Lutheran School is hosting a book fair in March! Our book fair two years ago made over $2000 to benefit our school library (on sales of $4300), and many people also purchased books directly for their students' classrooms from our teachers' wish lists! We’re hoping to beat that number this time!

You will be able to shop with cash, checks, credit cards (including with Apple Pay and similar phone-based methods), and Follett gift cards. Visit https://www.giftfly.com/shop/follett-book-fairs to purchase a Follett gift card for your child – gift cards can be personalized with a child’s name, and can be used at our book fair and at Follett’s online shop (though we hope you use them at our fair!). A Follett gift card for your child’s teacher is also a great way to help build up their own classroom library – we’ll also have teacher wish lists at the book fair. We’ll also be able to order books to be mailed to your child(ren) at school, if what you want is not on the shelves at the fair.

*Note: All purchases will be taxed (except for purchases by Our Redeemer staff for use at school), so this is a great time to teach your child(ren) about taxes, to ensure that they aren’t surprised by the total for their purchases and have put anything back.

We will also need volunteers to make each day go smoothly – visit https://signup.com/go/pjPHtXS to view open slots and sign up to help – all volunteers get a 20% discount on book fair purchases!

Book fair dates/times:
  • Saturday, March 7th – 6:00pm (during the PTL Meeting/Family Night) - IF our book fair is delivered in time to set up by Saturday
  •  Monday, March 9th – 8:00-8:30am & 3:30-4:00pm (before and after school)
  • Tuesday, March 10th – 8:00-8:30am & 3:30-4:00pm (before and after school)
  • Wednesday, March 11th – 8:00-8:30am & 3:30-4:00pm (before and after school) & 5:15-6:45pm (during the Lenten soup supper)
  • Thursday, March 12th – 8:00-8:30am & 3:30-4:00pm (before and after school)
  • Friday, March 13th – 8:00-8:30am & 3:30-4:00pm (before and after school)
  • Sunday, March 15th – 9:15-10:15am (between worship services) & 1:00-3:30pm (during the Exploration Celebration event)
We hope that you and your child(ren) are excited for our book fair! Contact the school office with any questions.
