Introduced Today -- One of the most important pieces of legislation that will impact representation for decades was introduced today...this is just the first step and there is more to come.
This morning at the Capitol, my GOP colleagues introduced a bill that would amend the Idaho Constitution to change conditions that would permanently impact representation in our state. Idaho has an exemplary redistricting process which consists of a balanced and fair process with equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans appointed to the committee.
Democrats are concerned that cracking open the constitution to lock legislative districts at 35 is only the first step in the Republican’s plan to change Idaho’s redistricting commission. Gerrymandering is a growing concern here in Idaho and stands to drastically change Idaho’s political landscape.
