CORONAVIRUS – HOPING FOR THE BEST, PREPARING FOR THE WORST
In recent days, our team has been working hard to protect our staff and those we serve from the threat posed by the novel coronavirus / COVID-19. While to date no cases have been confirmed among our staff or participants, we are proceeding under the assumption that the virus is already present in the Transition Projects community.
Many of the nearly 1,500 people we serve each day are particularly vulnerable to infection given various factors, including underlying health conditions, age, and limited access to hygiene resources. Our internal Coronavirus Task Force is in regular contact with county health officials and our sister agencies to help promote a coordinated response to the threat and to adjust our protocols as this situation evolves. LET'S MAKE HISTORY THIS MAY!
Following intensive consultation and negotiation, Metro region councilors unanimously voted to refer the HereTogether $250 million a year homeless services measure to the May ballot! HereTogether has spent more than a year doing research, building a broad coalition of experts and advocates, and engaging with our regional community to create a historic measure that will: provide support services at the scale at which they're currently needed; prioritize race and equity; and avoid placing a further burden on those currently struggling with our region's affordability crisis.

Huge thanks to the HereTogether team, Metro, County leadership, and both Business for a Better Portland and the Portland Business Alliance for championing this game changing and desperately needed initiative.
