Letter From the President

Assalaamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,
Our February Fundraiser is officially underway and we are so excited to have three ways to contribute to our beloved masjid. The biggest way you can help is by choosing an envelope from the big green wall in the lobby, fill it with the amount written on the front (cash or check will do), and drop it in the small black drop box on the wall to the right of the display. Easy and so incredibly impactful. If each and every envelope is filled with the appropriate amount, we will raise over $20,000 for Masjid al Noor inshallah. This money will go towards all our big goals towards revitalizing our mosque and filling it with programs that celebrate our beautiful faith. We would love to be able to invite qualified scholars to come educate us, provide much needed services and resources to our congregants and attract young Muslim families to settle in the area so that this mosque lives and thrives for decades to come. Our community needs to think bigger than keeping the lights on! Two other ways to contribute this month is by treating yourself and your family to delicious goodies from our weekly bake sale and by perusing our book sale. The book sale serves two purposes: we raise some money for the mosque and we start to clean out the library while you take home Islamic books to share with your family. Please participate in all three efforts!
On a final note, we will be holding a Mental Health Forum for our youth this coming Saturday, February 8 at 2 pm in the masjid. We invite all of our young people to attend. Please encourage your teens and young adults to attend. I will be facilitating an open and honest conversation about mental health and faith. It is a great chance for the youth to come have a candid conversation about issues that they face each day and to learn that they are not alone, that they can find support in the mosque and from each other. Inshallah we will plan on holding a similar forum for parents in the near future.

Jazakallah,
Pashmina Rashad

Mentorship Program: MHIA wants to embark on an initiative that prepares our young people for the industries/careers they want to pursue. This is an opportunity for those who might need help deciding on a career, getting a reference letter or looking for help on a homework assignment. And if you're already in your dream job, this is an opportunity to help guide others.

Please take the time to answer this survey accurately so that we can tailor workshops and events directly for you or your student.
