RECENT TRAININGS
We hosted four trainings in January with more coming up.

Thank you to the wonderful people at Picture Book for all their help and the beautiful space. We hosted a Writing for Research and Advocacy course with 9 participants from a local research group.
|
|
|
Thank you again to Mae Tao Clinic for your continued support. We hosted a second training at their amazing training site for the Burma Medical Association with 10 participants. This was a special tailored training on Research Proposal Writing with topics including: literature review, problems & justification, research questions, methodologies, and ethics.

We partnered with Greenovator to host our first Myanmar Writing for Research and Advocacy course. Greenovator is an amazing social enterprise in Yangon. There were 18 participants from 14 different local organizations.

|
The Tea Leaf Center also hosted a short training with the Women's League of Burma. This was a tailored training on Persuasive writing for 10 participants.

RECENT EVENTS
The Tea Leaf Center was invited to chair a panel at the Australian Myanmar Institute(AMI) conference in Yangon. Jonathan moderated the panel Environment: Sustainable Ecological Development Challenges with speakers from Dawei University (Myanmar), Griffith University (Australia), Chiang Mai University (Thailand), and University of Melbourne (Australia) We were also invited to the AMI Mandalay conference to participate in their first Mandalay Marketplace event - with over 52 local organizations sharing research, skills, and expanding networks. Thank you to AMI and International Development Research Center.

Audio continues to be a major medium for communication and information sharing. International Food Policy Research Institute(IFPRI) recently started a podcast covering research in development. Their first podcast interviews Ruth Meinzen-Dick & Jagdeesh Rao on their approach to community conservation of shared resources. It can be found on Soundcloud.
Salsa is an advocacy software company in the US. While their services are specifically US based, they have a useful toolkit for advocacy available for download here. It has ideas, strategies, and tools relevant today despite being two years old.
For those looking to integrate gender sensitive approaches to research, the Warwick Interdisciplinary Research Center for International Development has designed a toolkit just for this.
We have been asked recently for some good examples of groups/companies that have effective marketing. While we don't like the term "Lifehack", but the website of the same name has compiled a list already. Specifically, these are examples of vision statements by a some large well known organizations. This is a good place to start if your organization is needing ideas for rethinking direction.
