How to Raise Awareness About SCAD

Share Your Own Story
Post your own story on social media. Include information about SCAD and the need for research to find answers about the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women and new moms. Most people have never heard of SCAD.

Reach out to your local newspapers, TV and radio stations offering to share your SCAD story. You can also submit your story online or by mail. Many newspapers also have online websites, which welcome submitted articles. Don't forget to add a picture or two to bring attention to your article. If you need help, contact us at scadinfo@scadresearch.org.
Share Voices of SCAD Videos
Thank you to the SCAD survivors who participated in our Voices of SCAD series by sharing their amazing stories. Throughout SCAD Heart Attack Awareness Week and beyond, you can raise awareness about SCAD by posting these wonderful videos.

A special thank you to Nick D'Orazio for creating the Voices of SCAD series. These stories were captured at several of our 2019 5K SCADaddles. Watch for additional Voices of SCAD videos in the near future.
Share SCAD Information Materials
You can raise awareness by sharing the following one page information sheets written for specific audiences:
  • General Information – for the general public to raise awareness and the need for research. Often libraries, stores and other businesses are willing to post this information.
  • Medical Information – especially for medical professionals such as ER doctors/statf, cardiologists, physicians, OB/GYNs, nurse practioners/nurses. Stop by local hospitals, walk in clinics including pharmacies etc. Introduce yourself, share your story and ask for the handouts to go to their medical professionals or post on bulletin boards.
  • EMT Information – geared to EMTs, the first responders to 911 calls. Stop by your local fire stations, tell your story and ask to distribute the handout.
