Thanks to everyone who came to St Michaels’ Charity Quiz Night, which raised £1,725 for The Upper Room, WaterHarvest and our new charity West London Welcome, the first drop-in centre for refugees and migrants in Hammersmith.

            In this cold weather, The Upper Room needs more winter clothing. Please donate men’s gloves, hats, scarves, coats and new socks and underwear in the box at the back of St Michael & All Angels. Please also donate food to the Ealing Food Bank – the February shopping list is displayed at the back of the church.

1. Today Friday February 7th from 12.30 to 1.15pm, there is  Lunchtime Organ Music with Stephen Farr, Director of Music, St Paul’s Knightsbridge. Free admission, collection at end.

2. Also today Friday 7th, and Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th, from 5pm at Chiswick House and Gardens, the Lightopia Festival is open, running until the end of February.

3. Also tonight, Friday 7th from 7.30pm in the Michael Room, St Michael’s Parish Hall it’s the Bedford Park Society Winter Party for its members. Tickets £20 from Postmark in Turnham Green Terrace (or online, plus admin fee) – to include drinks, canapés and entertainment by ArtsEd students, who will preview their next production.

4. Tomorrow Saturday February 8th at 7.30pm at St Michael & All Angels there’s a West London Sinfonia concert: Three Timeless Masterpieces - Vaughan Williams: Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis; Mozart: Sinfonia Concertante for Winds; Brahms Symphony No 2.

5. Tomorrow, Saturday February 8th at 7.30pm at the Chiswick Playhouse above the Tabard, there are a few tickets for the hit thriller Tryst, after a sell-out run when it got 4 and 5-star reviews – but Monday is sold out. Details and booking
              On Monday February 17th, there’s a special 
performance
 for members of The Arts Society Chiswick and the Bedford Park Society with a welcome and a glass of wine. If you’re a member, see their emails, explaining how to book tickets.

6. On Sunday February 9th at 10am in St Michael & All Angels Church, it’s a Parish Mass. Preacher Fr Kevin Morris, vicar. Plus Youth Church (9.30am Michael Room), Creche (0-3 years), Children’s Church (4-10).
             At 6.30pm there is Evensong: Preacher, Timothy George, reader. 
All welcome. 
            As you come in, why not tap your card on our Contactless Giving point inside the church doors? We will claim the Gift Aid. 
 
7. Do you have time to give to the St Michael & All Angels Parish Office? The managers are creating rotas for Sunday afternoon caretaker support and Friday afternoon pew sheet folding. If you have web/graphic design skills or tech/AV skills and could help upgrade the office technology, they would love to hear from you. Please email

8. On Monday February 10th from 3pm to 5pm it’s the next Café Conversation session at Avanti, Bedford Corner, W4 1LD, organised by Louise Kaye, to encourage lonely or isolated people to have a cup of tea or coffee and chat to others in a similar situation. All welcome.
            On Wednesday February 12th from 2pm-4pm it’s the next Café Conversation at Cafe Grove, 7 Grove Park Road, W4 3RS.
                
9. From Tuesday February 11th to Saturday 15th at the Rose Theatre Kingston, Chiswick’s Elizabeth McGovern and Nigel Lindsay star in ‘God of Carnage’, which has had rave reviews.

10. On Thursday February 13th at 7pm at St Nicholas Church, Church Street W4, the Friends of St Nicholas present a talk about the Glebe Estate and the Revd Dale, who gave the land as part of his mission to help the poor. It’s by two members of the Brentford & Chiswick Local History Society, Tracey Logan and Richard Szwagrzak. Doors open 6.30pm, refreshments available. £10, £7 concs, free to Friends of St Nicholas. 11. Also on Thursday February 13th at 8pm in the Malinova Room at POSK, 238-246 King Street W6 0RF, the Arts Society Chiswick lecture is ‘The Field of Cloth of Gold: 6,000 Englishmen in France…’ by Jo Mabbutt of the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers. Cash bar open 
from 7pm. Non-members most welcome for £10, payable on the door. More details on the Society website. 

12. On Saturday February 15th from 9am, on Turnham Green opposite Empire House, Abundance London are seeking volunteers to plant more cherry trees. With the Friends of Turnham Green they will be planting 16 trees to fill in the gaps in the existing avenue of large mature cherries.
           Voting is open in the Abundance London project to choose the next ‘Fourth Plinth for W4’ artwork by Turnham Green tube station, where Sir Peter Blake’s Chiswick Empire collage is currently displayed. A panel led by Sir Peter has selected a shortlist of four. Voting closes at the end of February.

14. On Tuesday February 18th from 7-9pm at our sister church St Peter’s in Southfield Road, there’s a Creative Writing and Wellbeing workshop, with Elise Valmorbida and Vanessa King.

            On Thursday February 27th from 8-9pm at St Peter’s, Fr Fabrizio Pesce will begin a Mindfulness In Depth course.
 
15. On Sunday February 23rd at 10am at St Michael & All Angels, its our annual Choral Mass and Confirmation service. Celebrant and preacher: Rt Revd Michael Marshall, Hon Asst Bishop in the Diocese of London. All welcome. Confirmation at St Michael’s
 
16. On Tuesday February 25th at 7.30pm at Chiswick Pier Trust, Corney Reach Way W4 2UG, there’s a lecture by Cahal Dallat: A Whole Day’s Dreaming: Yeats, the Thames, and Poetry,  with Yeats readings by Anne-Marie Fyfe. Doors open 7pm. £5 non-members, free for members. Details

 
17. On Thursday February 27th at 8pm in St Michael & All Angels Church, it’s the second Upper Room Winter Lecture. Former BBC presenter John Humphrys will be interviewed by Julian Marshall. Free admission but ticket needed via Eventbrite. Details and booking

- Thursday March 5th at St Martin's Church, Hale Gardens, Acton W3 9SQ. The Nonesuch Orchestra and composer Andrew Toovey will workshop pieces by eight students from local secondary schools including Chiswick School and Twyford CofE High School, followed at 2.10pm by a concert of the students' works and works by Dorothy Howell and Sally Beamish. 

- Saturday March 7th at 7.30pm at St Alban's Church, Acton Green W4 5LG, the Nonesuch Orchestra will perform some of the students' works, and works by Sally Beamish, Dorothy Howell and Elgar. All three events are part of CoMA's Festival of Contemporary Music for All. See website
