After many years of dedicated service, Miss Marcy Bard has resigned her position as Nursery Director. We give her thanks for her years of service and love for the kids and families. We wish blessings for Miss Marcy as she moves on and we are thankful for the time she spent as part of the Hope Nursery. We will continue, with joy, to provide loving, welcoming, fun and safe Nursery care at Hope. All of our Nursery hosts are qualified, trained and equipped to provide the best possible environment for our youngest kiddos to thrive!

SCRIPTURE
Deuteronomy 30:11-20

11 Surely, this commandment that I am commanding you today is not too hard for you, nor is it too far away. 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, “Who will go up to heaven for us, and get it for us so that we may hear it and observe it?” 13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, “Who will cross to the other side of the sea for us, and get it for us so that we may hear it and observe it?” 14 No, the word is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart for you to observe.

15 See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity. 16 If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the Lord your God, walking in his ways, and observing his commandments, decrees, and ordinances, then you shall live and become numerous, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away and you do not hear, but are led astray to bow down to other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that you shall perish; you shall not live long in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. 19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, 20 loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and holding fast to him; for that means life to you and length of days, so that you may live in the land that the Lord swore to give to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

Service Team will be in the Welcome Center on February 23rd and March 1st between and after all three services to gather volunteers and donations for Hope's commitment to host South Oakland Shelter (a traveling homeless shelter) with Antioch Lutheran Church. Volunteers are needed on March 12th as well as March 14th & 15th. Ways to help range from serving meals and interacting with guests to donating specific items for meals -- even donating $5 gift cards to use as Bingo prizes. Your help for this event is greatly appreciated.

Menstruation is the number one reason that girls miss school around the world, particularly in developing countries.  Days for Girls provides reusable supplies to make sure that menstruation never stands in the way of education. With that in mind, we are collecting underwear in girls and women's sizes to be used for days for girls' donation kits. The details on sizes and styles needed can be found on Hope's website or on the collection bin in the welcome center.
CLICK for details and a list of monthly collection items. In February we are collecting socks and washcloths for our next Bags of Hope assembly to assist the homeless in southeast Michigan.
Mitten Tree items from late December and January were donated to Foster Closet of Oakland County. The tree will remain through February and the items collected in late January and February will be donated to Song and Spirit Institute Homeless Outreach.
