As we move forward in 2020, it may be easy to allow your marriage to take a back seat in terms of your priorities. With your children’s schedules, work responsibilities, self-care, etc. you may not realize that your spouse’s needs could be neglected. One of the most impactful elements of any relationship is communication. After all, we do not have the ability to know the wants and needs of others without using our voices.

Perhaps you or your spouse struggle with being direct about your feelings. If that is indeed the case, we encourage you to seek out a professional who may be able to help you express yourself in a way that is respectful and considerate of your spouse. Our Team recognizes the significant role of mental health professionals. While our society may not always recognize their importance, therapists offer an objective perspective and safe space for couples and individuals to work through life’s phases and transitions.

In the past, couples might have been hesitant to try counseling because of the stigma associated with seeking help. However, in recent years, many couples are now being transparent about how participating in therapy has contributed to the success of their marriages. Of course, being vulnerable about the struggles you may have experienced in your marriage can be frightening. Building trust and feeling comfortable are imperative in order to get to a place where you feel at ease and are willing to open up.

All of our attorneys at The Marks Law Firm, P.A. encourage our Clients to explore reconciliation when appropriate. More often than not, part of this process includes going to counseling. We have witnessed several of our Clients restore their marriages with the help of therapists and the support of our Team.

It is our Mission: “To Honor God and Faithfully Represent our Clients with Great Leadership, Attitude, Excellence and Teamwork.”

For those of you who are interested in learning more about counseling and the potential benefits that go along with it, read our featured blog post below.

Thank you for keeping our firm in mind when you have an opportunity to refer a family law matter.

Three Ways Counseling Can Positively Impact Your Marriage

Often, couples are led to believe counseling should only be entered in a final effort to save their marriage. While speaking with a mental health professional may seem intimidating at first, we encourage our clients to seek help, especially if reconciliation is possible. Recently, several high-profile couples have come forward to credit counseling as a contributing factor of the success of their marriages. Read more...
