Last week, Cath, our CEO was in Munich, checking out for the most innovative, sustainable, and let’s face it, uber-cool kit of 2020 at the largest outdoors industry trade show in Europe, ISPO. As part of the Jury Panel for the Outdoors category, Cath was given the honour of presenting awards to leading brands including Klattermusen, Marmot and Mammut.

One of the joys of being part of the panel is seeing emerging trends in outdoors gear, and it's great to see sustainability as a recurrent theme among this year’s award-winners: better use of recycled materials, use of non-synthetic dye (because clothing coloured with oil-based dye isn’t recyclable), and a move towards a 'buy-once buy-well' philosophy, something that Outdoor People has always pushed for.
Standing up for a more sustainable industry Cath was part of the ISPO Award Jury, trying out new sleeping bags, mats, running gear and ice axes. We’re excited about bringing in some of the award-winning gear to the shop later in the year (although we can’t make any promises about the ice axes). Have a read of the short blog in the ISPO site >>
