Join us for the Sheffield Climate Alliance monthly meeting next Tuesday 18th February (6.45pm for 7pm; Quaker Meeting House, St James Street, 10 2EW).

In the first part of this month's meeting (7-8pm), our new part-time employee Roscoe will be giving a workshop on how to use Slack: a communication platform we are trialling in SCA to improve communication, inclusivity and efficiency. If you're involved with Sheffield Climate Alliance already, or curious to get involved please come along and get skilled up. If you have a smartphone or laptop, bring it along and you can test it out in the workshop. If you can't make the session but want to get onboard, email info@sheffieldclimatealliance.net and Roscoe will be in touch to get you up to speed.

The second part (8-9pm) will be the usual meeting, where you can find out about our current campaigns and how you can get involved.

See you there!

Climate Action Fund: We're through to the next round!

In partnership with over 40 different organisations across the Sheffield City Region, Sheffield Climate Alliance recently submitted a bid for the National Lottery's Climate Action Fund that could see substantial funding for the partnership to increase capacity for delivering real actions on Climate Change in Sheffield and the City Region. We are delighted to say that we've made it through to the next stage of the application process! Fantastic work to everyone who has been a part of this getting shortlist of 40 bids out of the whopping 630 initial applications.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be developing our bid to try and secure one of the fifteen funding pots available. Nothing is guaranteed at this stage, so watch this space to see how this develops!
Home Truths: How Climate Change is Impacting UK Homes

“We are seeing the impacts of climate change on our doorstep [and] the solution are at our fingertips.”

Last week, the Climate Coalition published a new report exploring both the impact of climate change and we can reduce our homes' contribution to climate change. This groundbreaking report combines contemporary scientific research with strategies for the future.

“We can make our homes cosier and greener and cheaper to run. But to do this we need our government to ensure that all new homes are compatible with a net zero emissions target, help homeowners to make their houses more energy-efficient and improve flood defences in vulnerable areas.”
