Excerpts:

Parents Survey Feedback 2

Firstly, we would again like to thank everyone who responded to our survey at the end of last year.  While the response rate wasn’t quite as good as our previous one, it still represented more than 25% of our members.  It was nice to see such positive scores again and we always welcome the constructive feedback.

None of this would be possible without the incredible hard work of the team, and these results reflect that effort.  Great job everyone!

We received 33 responses – 25 complete and 8 incomplete – so making some of the questions mandatory didn’t quite work as expected, but it was still a good response.
The first section was around the Quality of Environment and scored highly across all 6 questions, with a range of 80% to 92% either “Agreeing” or “Strongly Agreeing” with the statements.

We always welcome feedback from parents and children, but as you can see from some of the examples above, not everyone always agrees!  The bag area is now the only space we have available, as we can no longer use the corridor, and we are still working on the best way to use this area.  We would love to hear your ideas that might help at collection time.

Following the last survey, we updated the team page on our website, so everyone had an new picture and some details about their interests.  We are always trying to find a balance between providing regular updates to parents and allowing them to quickly collect their children, as we appreciate many of you have other activities after school club.

We will continue to try and find ways of communicating with you, but the team are always available if you have an specific questions or concerns.

The second section was around the Quality of Staffing and again scored highly across 5 of 6 questions, with between 76% and 88% of responses “Agreeing” or “Strongly Agreeing” with the statements.  Two questions scored a “Don’t Know” response of over 20%.

These questions related to the children’s individual needs and involvement in decision making, both of which are incredibly important to us.  We introduced personal care plans following the last Care Inspectorate visit, and parents are always welcome to discuss these with their child’s key worker.  We also aim to involve the children in all key decisions, especially around the activities offered and how they spend their time at club.

We would also like to remind parents that individual children’s behaviour can be discussed with the manager at any time should you have concerns.

We would like to thank you for your patience whilst we have been making the changeover from a manual to an automated billing system with the introduction of QuickBooks software. It is still a relatively new system for us, but what has become clear throughout the process and from the feedback received in the survey is that members have different preferences regarding the frequency and detail of billing information provided.

Our current approach is to provide monthly invoices for regular sessions, and additional invoices for extra sessions and holiday club sessions where attended.  If you do not wish to receive invoices for regular sessions, please let our Operational Coordinator, Jennifer Horne know (email: fees@lpoosc.org.uk) and you can be opted-out from these.  Jennifer will also be issuing statements each term so that you can see what the balance is for your account. If you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch with her.

We are pleased that the Government Tax Free Childcare payment scheme is providing useful for those who have registered to pay their fees to the club through this option.  If you are not registered with a childcare voucher scheme through your employer then it is worth checking if you are eligible as it may save you 20% of your childcare costs. There is more information on our website http://www.lpoosc.org.uk.tax-free-childcare/
We take the children’s safety incredibly seriously, and strive to make continuous improvement in this area.  Children have to wear their outdoor jackets and shoes when going out to play, and if it is raining or particularly cold they must have their outerwear zipped up.  Head torches have been introduced to allow the children to continue to play outdoors in the dark nights, and there is always the appropriate number of staff supervising the children, indoors and outside.

We will continue to communicate with parents through a number of different channels, including email, text messages, Facebook, our website, display boards, committee meetings, newsletter and face to face, but welcome any suggestions you have on how we can improve in this area.

Finally, we are still working on updating all of the clubs policies, including work with an external provider to review them, before we publish them on our website.

Watch out for further developments and thanks again for your continued support.

The Trustees
