Our second studio in a Rarámuri Community is ready to open! ❤️

During the pasts months we have been very busy planning the opening of our second studio at the heart of a Rarámuri community!

We decided to jump into this new adventure when we got support from the government program BIENESTAR. In 2019 it provided funding to create job opportunities for a group of women and trans-women from the Rarámuri community.

This new chapter has been full of challenges but with the help of our team and all the people that support NI EN MORE we can proudly say that we are open for BUSINESS! 

So please, If you are in Ciudad Juárez come and join us to celebrate the opening of this second studio on March the 8th from 12:00h.
The second studio is located at Colonia Tarahumaras in the outskirts of Ciudad Juárez, where more than 97 Rarámuri families live.

This means we can create job opportunities for a group of women and trans-women from the Rarámuri community right in their neighborhood so they don't have to travel long distances and can spend more time with their friends and families.

Opening a studio within the community also means that we can create opportunities for an indigenous group that have been suffering discrimination and deprivation of land and opportunities generation after generation.

Rarámuri women are mainly discriminated against because they are indigenous and because of the way they dress. It is difficult, not to say impossible, for them to find work because they can not trade their colorful dresses for a uniform. The Rarámuri dresses are not just a piece of clothing, they represent the Rarámuri culture, traditions and identity. Employers are failing to understand it, and keep denying them job opportunities.

The new members of the NI EN MORE team will be led by Candelaria. She has been with us from the beginning. Candelaria will be responsible for the studio and will also lead the natural dye workshop.

During the first months our team will be training and we will not be able to produce anything and generate any income.

We are still raising additional funding to keep the studio running.
