Book Group for Boys
The next Boys' Book Group is planned for Sunday, March 15 during Coffee Hour. The boys will discuss C.S.Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe as well Prince Caspian.
We're hoping to read and discuss literature that has not only stood the test of time but that would also appeal to this age group of boys. Please bring your classic book suggestion to the next meeting so we can develop our reading schedule. Please email kristengodbold@gmail.com to register.

Women's Lenten Retreat
The Women's Lenten Retreat will take place at All Saints this year on Saturday, March 28. Bishop Chad Jones will lead the retreat on the theme of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There will be Morning Prayer, Mass, Evening Prayer and time for confession and silent prayers. Please mark your calendars!

Excerpt: "The warning for us, as we begin to prepare for Lent, is about ingratitude and entitlement. The early laborers managed to view the householder as indebted to them — as though, because of his generosity to the latecomers, he now owed them. The risk of fasting and spiritual disciplines is that we can easily imagine that by doing them, we put God in our debt."

Saints Bio: St. Valentine
Around this time of year, many persons ask: “Who was St. Valentine, and what does he have to do with sending romantic cards and flowers?” St. Valentine is a martyr from before 312, commemorated on the 14th of February. He was likely martyred on that date, but nothing else is known of him. There was a priest in Rome named Valentine, as well as a bishop in Ternia and both have traditionally been commemorated on 14 February. They are now generally assumed to be the same person. In many parts of Europe, it was once said that birds began to pair off for the nesting season in mid-February. Since our forebears often spoke of a given day by naming a saint connected with it rather than by giving the month and the number of the day, we find them saying that birds choose their mates on St. Valentine’s day. There are several stories making the rounds that try to explain the connection between valentine cards and flowers and Valentine but they all sound to me like they have been made up by some overly romantic Victorian low-church clergyman lecturing to children.
