Waste Prevention Grants

The Alameda County Waste Management Authority (StopWaste) is offering grants in four categories, see below, with total funding up to $400K available to nonprofits and businesses. The focus is on innovative projects that reduce waste in Alameda County. Application deadline is March 17.
Explore All Grants
Reuse & Repair Grants
- Up to $20,000 per grant
- Businesses and nonprofits
- Projects: Reuse, repair, deconstruction, redistribution, product or process redesign, recovery, and other ways that keep materials out of disposal or recycling.

Food Waste Reduction Grants
- Up to $20,000 per grant
- Businesses and nonprofits
- Pilots and projects that recover and redistribute surplus edible food to feed people, or prevent surplus edible food generation through product or process redesign.

Waste Prevention Equipment Grants
- Up to $10,000 per grant
- Businesses and nonprofits
- Eligible equipment: Reusable transport packaging OR transport and/or storage equipment for food rescue (donation).

Community Outreach Grants
- Up to $5,000 or $10,000 per grant
- Community-based nonprofits
- Projects: Education and outreach promoting behaviors that reduce wasted food or waste from disposable food ware.
