DOCF newsletter  - February 2020 edition
DOCF Mission Statement: Strengthening the community by implementing and supporting programs that improve the quality of life for women and their families in the greater Charlotte region.

Sandra Galmon, DOCF Chair

" In a gentle way, you can shake the world.”
                                                  -  Mahatma Gandi
Dear DOCF Affiliates, Friends, and Members

How can I say thanks?!

DOCF provided temporary shelter for ten women experiencing housing challenges. It speaks to the heart of our mission of helping women in the Charlotte community. We did not do it alone. We enjoyed an amazing partnership with the following organizations:

- Brownie Troop 870, Hornets Nest council
- Charlotte Alumnae Chapter (CAC) Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
- CAC Hospitality team
- Elevation Church
- Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department
- Debbie Smith, McCrorey YMCA
- UNCC, Women’s Soccer Team

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention THE BEST volunteers in the world who pitched in where needed: to include washing the neighbors' laundry, engaging in conversation, and staying awake all night to provide a safe and secure environment. All provisions for the weekend were supplied by our members. Your generosity ranged from beds, blankets, to gift cards.
My expectations were exceeded! We have two additional months to serve our neighbors. We hope that you will be present and participate with us this month.

Work your magic! Peace and Blessings.

Thanks

Sandra
