The Latest

It’s been an interesting start to the year in many ways. The Nation experienced devastating bushfires, homes and lives lost, with millions of acres of land and millions of wildlife burnt to a crisp.

I can't imagine the pain and heartache of so many having to recover from that hopefully once in a lifetime event. Sadly, I don’t think we have seen the end of it this year.

We had a very challenging January with dust and smoke being a constant companion in the first half of the month, and Fred our manager left the team mid January to pursue other opportunities, which created the opportunity for me to step back into the managers role, one I had given to others for many years.

I have relished having responsibility again, and have been focusing on infrastructure improvements, multi species pasture establishment and maintaining ground cover in our paddocks. Jim has stepped into an overseer position and we have been smashing out jobs throughout January and February, which will allow him to take some time off in March to accommodate his Nuffield Scholarship overseas travels.

We have had wonderful rain in February, and the country has responded remarkably well. We certainly need more rain to grow the feed through Autumn and sail into Winter with plenty of grass, however very grateful for the rain that has brought life back to our soil and a spring in our step!

Podcast Production under way

It’s a dream come true for me to be taking my first steps into the podcast production world... this time on the other end of the mic! I have thoroughly enjoyed contributing to others podcasts and I am really looking forward to getting out into the field to interview regenerative farming legends for ‘The Regenerative Journey’ podcast.

I am truly honoured and humbled to be able to announce here that my inaugural podcast series is being supported by Landcare Australia. Proceeds from The Bob Hawke Landcare Award I received in 2018 will be used to fund the series – broadening the footprint of sustainable agriculture and education nationally.

Watch this space for more information – we hope to be airing podcasts in April / May.

Media Coverage

delicious. magazine

Check out the February edition of delicious magazine for a yarn from me about providing a sustainable model for supporting farmers through my involvement with the charity Thankful4farmers. It’s a follow up article about my trip to NY last October.

Wentworth Courier

In the February edition of the Wentworth Courier there was a great article on Matt Moran cataloguing the extent of his work in food, farming and celebrity cheffing (which he says that he could take or leave, despite a few big projects in the pipeline.)  I rate a mention too, and have to say I am stoked to be referred to as Matt's latest 'boy crush', the feeling is of course mutual. I love collaborating with this bloke – he's a total tour de force for regenerative change and a pioneer of the 'paddock to plate' movement.

Coming Up

Zach Bush (pictured) will be speaking in Melbourne in March
Just a few events that I am heading to in the next few months, click the links to find out more:
In the next few weeks we are hoping to confirm roadshows to Northern Tablelands NSW and WA in June and September respectively. The roadshows will give me a fantastic opportunity to see first hand what is going on within the Regenerative Ag space in these areas and will enable me to help facilitate and encourage more farmers and interested folk into the fold.

In our next newsletter I hope to be able to announce these partnerships and we have a number of other exciting colabs that we hope to announce in the near future…..

As always, share this newsletter to anyone who might be interested. Know someone in Victoria who would like to learn more about Regen Ag? Let them know what's happening in March.

Cheers,
Charlie Arnott
