Video Spotlight: Cities Connect Mayor's Priorities and Equitable Access to Nature
As part of the CCCN initiative, cities are finding innovative ways to more equitably connect all children to the many benefits of nature. In these short videos, representatives from San Francisco, Houston and Rochester talk about how their cities have benefited from CCCN by helping to bring partners together to align children and nature strategies with their Mayors' priorities.
Video: Building Trust & Rebuilding Community in Louisville
A group of longtime Louisville residents are driving efforts to help revitalize their neighborhood – and they’re doing it in partnership with the government and a grant from Aetna Health. Together, they are creating programs that bring nature to children with a project initiated through CCCN called ECHO – Engaging Children in the Outdoors. Watch the video to learn more.
Nature Center at St. Paul’s Watergate Marina? ‘We’re in,’ National Park Service says.
One of St. Paul’s main CCCN strategies is to connect children to nature through the building of a community nature center on the Mississippi River. Earlier this month,the project got a big boost when the National Park Service (NPS) and St. Paul Parks and Recreation signed a general agreement making it a common goal to complete the project. Focus on Equity Increases Access to Camp in San Francisco
As one of their CCCN strategies, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department partnered with the city’s early childhood agencies to launch an array of incentives to ensure all city residents have access to the benefits of nature at Camp Mather, including free cabins and reserved spots for low-income families.
