Membership News February 2020
Hi all

Young Westminster Foundation, Total Media Group and Positive View Foundation were delighted to host a fundraising art auction on Thursday 13th Feb in support of vital outreach youth work in Westminster, hosted by the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Ruth Bush.

The Westminster Art Collective was attended by 250 guests from across Westminster, including many of Total Media’s creative network. The collection featured affordable art, donated by a variety of artists and organisations in celebration of Westminster and its youth culture. This inaugural fundraising auction was held at the Greenhouse Centre, a Grade II* listed deconsecrated church in North Westminster, the home of YWF Member Greenhouse Sports.

The Auction Collective ran the auction itself, creating a real buzz in the room and introducing many of the guests to the fun of an auction for the first time.

A total of £19 000 was raised through the event for the YWF community, with £10k being invested into a new outreach youth programme in Westminster. The money raised will further support opportunities for young people & the Westminster community through Positive View Foundation, Creative Media Network, The Floating Classroom, The Marylebone Project & Greenhouse Sports.

Hopefully you will be aware that YWF is working with King’s College London, Partnership for Young London & Rocket Science to update our needs analysis. This will provide an up-to-date evidence base to inform the next phase of our work. The benefits of having local insight from the needs’ analysis are vast and will help support and strengthen funding and partnership applications, as well as draw light to key issues pertaining to young people in the borough.

We are looking for young people to join us as Peer Researchers and co-deliver this project with us by facilitating focus groups, gathering research and amplifying young voices.

This is a paid opportunity that will provide young people with training, support and development. Young people will be provided with the chance to gain new skills, experience exciting environments and join the YWF network. All the information can be found here. If you work with any young people you think would be a good fit for this role, please let them know about this opportunity.
