As Black History Month comes to a close, I want to recap what I and others have been doing to celebrate. Over the past few weeks, I've been sharing readings and videos about African American history and heritage. You can check some of them out below:

Vox.com: The Lost Neighborhood Under New York's Central Park
UMOJA Magazine: Astra Iheukumere--A Force for Change, Innovation
13th: A Netflix original documentary directed by Ava DuVernay
Malcolm X: the classic autobiography and 1992 film

I also joined local leaders in a number of community celebrations.

I kicked off the month by attending the grand opening of the Black Women's Wellness Center. Later, I proclaimed February as Black History Month at the annual Black History Month Education Conference.

Many thanks to all of those who helped us honor the occasion!
