Hi Legger,

We are well into our official taper time before the L.A. Marathon on March 8. We can't believe this Saturday is our last official training run of the season! We've got a 7 mile run on the books and the route is south to Jib and back. There will NOT be a water station this weekend, so please remember to bring your own water.

Melissa Christina, the Nonprofit and Community Manager for Conqur, will be coming to 1450 at 6:45am to give a pre-run talk discussing changes at Dodger Stadium on race morning (due to construction) and answering member questions concerning the race.

Following the pre-run talk and 7 mile run, the LEGGERS will also be having a "garage sale", where you can purchase past seasons shirts at a discounted price.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about the L.A. Marathon, check out the marathon FAQ page on our website. Not running? Sign up here to volunteer to cheer on your fellow LEGGERS and help us at our support stations or at the Loews hotel.

Finally, we are still looking for volunteers for March 8, applications for the 2020-2022 LEGGERS Board of Directors, and Scotty Award nominations. Please consider signing up, applying and/or nominating!

See you on the pavement!

Join the LEGGERS Board of Directors

If you have enjoyed the water stations, training schedule, t-shirts, emails, race support and a million other things this past season, then you have enjoyed the work of the LEGGERS board! If you'd like the chance to give back to the club and your fellow runners, now is the time to make that happen.

We are now accepting applications for our 2020-2022 board. Members serve a 2-year term, attend monthly board meetings and contribute their time and skills to the club in a variety of ways.  All completed applications must be in by Tues 2/25 and interviews will be held Saturday 2/29.

Overall, being on the board is an extremely rewarding experience. If you have questions before applying, please email our current President, David, at president@laleggers.org.

Save The Date!

Saturday, 3/21, at 3:30pm is our End of Season party at Killer Shrimp in Marina Del Ray. Tickets will go on sale soon. Similar to last year, there will be awards, appetizers and beverages. Everyone is invited!

2020 Scotty Award Nominations

Last year's winner was Rose Thweatt, pictured above.
The Scotty Award, named in honor of L.A. LEGGERS founder Bob Scott, is the club's lifetime-achievement award.

We present it annually to recognize the individual who best demonstrates the spirit of the L.A. LEGGERS through extraordinary volunteer efforts that identify and support the interests and needs of the whole organization throughout the training season.

Submit your nomination here by Tuesday 3/3.  We'll announce the 2020 winner at our end of season brunch on Saturday 3/21.

2020 L.A. Marathon Volunteer Sign-up

If you're not running the marathon on 3/8, we'd love if you could volunteer at one of our many stations supporting the marathoners.  It is truly an all-hands-on-deck effort and we thank you in advance for your support. Sign up here by 3/2 for:
  • 3 different support stations along the course
  • Ballroom at the Loews
