Hello Riders,
Here's the latest news:
It is times like this that I am grateful to have horses to spend time exercising and loving on. Unless things change from the publication of this newsletter, Weekend Workshops and the Don Halladay Clinic will be going forward and we will be practicing distancing, hand washing and sanitizing. We can share a meal sitting further apart but there won't be any potluck. There also won't be access to the house or the washroom in the house at Donna's. For those who don't have a bathroom in their trailer, there is an outhouse and we will have disinfectant to spray between people. (Indoor washroom and indoor meeting area available at Benalto, DH Clinic) If it rains, we will wear rain gear, if the rain is too hard, we will wait it out. (weather changes every 5 minutes in Alberta anyway) No more than 8 students at the Workshops and no more than 12 at the DH Clinic so we can remain under the 15 persons guidelines. If the Workshops or DH Clinic are canceled, deposits will be refunded, that also means you will want to send in a $50 deposit to hold your Workshop spot and $100 deposit for the Don Halladay Clinic. Both the Weekend Workshops with Amy and the Don Halladay Clinic will be located outside for even more Covid safety.
Still lots of opportunities for learning and expanding our Savvy so we can enjoy our time with our horses even more. The Weekend Workshops and Don Halladay Clinic opportunities, dates and details are lower in the Newsletter.

I am teaching small group workshops on the weekend at Sartison's but there are no haul ins at this time. Contact me if you are interested in hauling in and I'll let you know if things have changed. I can also travel to your barn if it is permitted, mileage may apply.
Click Here  to see my calendar for Weekend 2 hour Workshops at Sartison’s Acres or contact me to arrange a private lesson.

You can add my google calendar to your own by clicking on the 3 lines in the top left corner of your own google calendar and typing in my email in the "add a calendar" section. This works better on a computer than on a phone or tablet.

Sugary Bits
Sugar is enjoying riding out and playing in the puddles. She has been offering confidence to people and horses in the next door field. I am sure she is looking forward to a real trail ride! I remember when Sugar was the one who was unconfident and scary to ride, it is such a pleasure to see her so level minded now.

This horseman's pledge to the horse:
I will never forget that our relationship was my choice and not yours.
Because this relationship is of my doing I will take responsibility for how it evolves through through my leadership.
If I am unsatisfied with your performance or attitude I will not blame you or those who have handled you in your past.
I will look to myself  to find better ways to communicate my desires and expectations in ways that you can accept and do not rob you of your dignity or spirit.
I will remember that your nature is not the same as mine .
Realizing this I will do my best to work together through your nature, not break you to mine.
I will do my best to protect you and not betray your trust by setting you up to fail through lack of preparation .
I will not expect you to be what I can not find in myself to be.
If you are not confident, precise , consistent or happy, I know I must find these things in myself first.
I will try to be aware of you and do everything in my power to be the kind of leader that I would want to follow.
I will value you and try not to take advantage of your good nature and willingness.
I will not risk your physical or mental well being with shortsightedness or for quick personal gains.
I will always strive to improve myself to be the best for you I can possibly be.
I will put your needs and well being above my expectations and desires.
