Saturday 2/22/20 Work Projects
At the roundhouse this Saturday we have some indoor work.
1. Still more work to do on the 4070 cab. Two more small bottom panels need to be measured, cut and fitted for welding.
There is still some electrical piping and a light fixture that need to be removed along with any remaining wood framing. The curved wood framing will have to be carefully removed and mapped. Many of the pieces are serviceable for reinstall and some need to be saved as templates to make new pieces.
We will to start making a dimensional sketch of the boiler side sheet metal. Our draftsmen can use those dimensions to create a CAD program which Lincoln Electric can use for burning. There are several bent spots on the roof overhang so we will have to try and get those straightened. There are also some holes in the roof that need patches.
2. Our ALCO RS 3 is spending the winter indoors. So now is a good time to do some PM. Fluids and batteries need to be topped off. There is some repair work on the couplers to be done Steve E. will lead this work crew. He would also like to install mirrors and lights on our Plymouth switcher.
3. Stall 4 needs some cleaning and straightening to create some space. The tool room cabinets need to emptied enough to move them out of the tool room. We will be doing a lot of mechanical work in stall 4 in the coming months.
To more effectively use our volunteers, we need to recreate a crew list for 4070 volunteers.
