Auditions for “Urinetown: The Musical” are Monday, March 2 & Tuesday, March 3 at 2:30pm in the choir room. Callbacks, if necessary, will be Thursday, March 5 at 2:30pm in the choir room. Audition materials are posted in the Theatre Arts & Dance @ RHS Schoology group (access code: G8Z9J-NS5BR).

Just The Beginning - A Pipeline Organization is hosting Judicial Jumpstart for High School Students on Friday, March 27, 2020! High school students in the Twin Cities, Minnesota area are invited to join us for a day at the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. Students will have the opportunity to interact with Federal Judges during a panel, learn about the duties of a U.S. Marshal, gain insight on other employment opportunities in the judiciary! Join us for a fun-filled day between approximately 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.  The program is FREE to those students selected.  You must provide your own transportation to and from the program.  To apply for the program, visit:  www.jtb.org.  Applications are due 3/12/20.

 District 196 has a current need for Substitute paraprofessionals and instructional clerks. 
Paraprofessionals work closely with our special education students offering academic, behavior, or self-care assistance earning $14 per hour.  Instructional clerks typically assist in monitoring our playground and lunchrooms in our elementary schools earning $12.75 per hour.  Opportunities are available Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30am to 4:00pm most weeks with flexibility to work a wide range of hours at multiple schools. Applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment physical and background check, complete an online Personal Care Attendant training (an easy training that typically takes approximately 15 minutes) and attend a clerical orientation.  If you are interested in finding out more information, please follow the link to our district website District Subbing Sign-Up and Information or call Barb Hall at 651-423-7761.

A list of current scholarship opportunities can be found on Naviance Student.  Once you log in to Naviance Student, go to the "Colleges" tab, scroll down and click on the "scholarship list" link to view the list of scholarships and/or download scholarship applications.

The RHS Girls Soccer Scholarship application is now available. App and info on Naviance or in Career Center. $500 award. Due 4/1/20

The Dakota County Farm Bureau Scholarship application is now available on Naviance or in the Career Center. Up to two awards of up to $750 will be given. Must be majoring in an agriculture related program. Due 3/16/20.

Jr. leadership opportunity
Interested in Government and Citizenship?  MN Girls State is a free, week-long leadership camp held on the campus at Bethel University June 14 - 21.  This camp, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, has been promoting leadership opportunities for Minnesota high school girls since the 1930s.  See Ms. Heieie in the College/Career Center for more information. 

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities will help host the National Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) Conference. Within the larger conference, there will be a free event on the St. Paul campus that is open to high school students with an interest in any of these areas of study. Participation includes:
  • Breakfast and lunch during the event
  • Hands-on workshops led by faculty and researchers in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resources Sciences (CFANS) 
  • A tour of the St. Paul campus with opportunities to learn about the admissions process
  • Entry to the newly-renovated Bell Museum (on a space-available basis
Must Register by February 28th in order to be eligible to attend.

RHS Senior Scholarship Application-Class of 2020
The RHS Senior Scholarship application for the class of 2020 will be available on Monday, 2/10.  The application can be found in Naviance. Students log in to their Naviance account.  Go to "About Me" tab and click on “About Me Home”. On the left hand side under “My Surveys” click on “See all Surveys” and you will find "RHS Senior Scholarship Application class of 2020".  The application will be completed and submitted directly through Naviance.  Students will have the option to start the application and come back to the application until they are finished and ready to submit.  The application due date is Tuesday, March 17th at 11:59pm.  Please see your counselor or Ms. Heieie in the Career Center with questions.     

Warrior 196 Leadership Foundation Scholarship applications available
** Two $1000 merit-based scholarships will be offered to graduating seniors at each of the four district high schools.
** One $1000 AVID scholarship will be offered to graduating AVID seniors at each of the four district high schools.

The Scott Highlands Middle School Scholarships are avail. Two $500 Alumni awards and One $1000 Ron Finger Educational award (this one for education majors). Must have attended at least 8th grade at SHMS. Due 3/20/20. Apps on SHMS website: www.district196.org/shms.

The Rosemount Youth Commission Scholarship application form is available on Naviance and in the Career Center. One $500 award. Project theme: "How the Rosemount Community Has Helped Me Grow as a Person". Application due 4/1/20.

The 202 Two Eagles Detachment, Marine Corps League, Lance Corporal Dale W. Means Scholarship Program application is now available. There will be up to 5 - $1000 awards given. Application and eligibility requirements on Naviance and in the Career Center. Due 5/1/20.

The TEAMKaleigh Memorial Scholarship app is available. 6- $1,000 awards to ISD 196 students sharing Kaleigh’s drive for: academic excellence,strong citizenship and character,desire to make a meaningful contribution to society. Info on Naviance. Apply at TEAMKaleigh.org

The Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship app is available on their website at: https://lockheedmartin.com/scholarship For students studying eligible engineering or computer science majors with financial need and come from underrepresented/underserved communities. Due 3/12/20

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides need-based scholarships to the children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen who attend college or career training. Due 3/3, 2020. For more information on eligibility or to apply, visit mcsf.org/apply.

The Gary Anger (Red Pine Elementary) scholarship application is available. On Naviance and in Career Center. Must have attended Red Pine for at least 1 year between Kindergarten and 5th Grade. $500. Due by 4/17/20.

The SFM Foundation Scholarship application is available on Naviance or at: www.sfmfoundation.com. The SFM Foundation provides scholarships to students whose parents were killed or seriously injured in workplace accidents while working for MN or IA employers. Due 3/31/20

Arts, Activities and Clubs
Congrats to Isaac Olson, Tinsae Bekele, Carter Sikorski, Drew Wetterlind and Connell Hagen for qualifying for Knowledge Bowl finals. They are one round away from the state championship! Wish them luck as they compete on February 27.

Congratulations to these speech team members who earned awards at the Bloomington Speech Tournament: Tanvi Adige, Olivia Betters, Miya Che, Charley Eatchel, Cierra Phillips and Jenna Standing.

CLUB RUGBY - ISD 196 Boys and Girls Spring Rugby Registration is open. Rugby suits all body styles and skills. No experience is necessary! Preseason (indoor) practice begins on March 1st and games begin in April. Go to https://eaasports.sportngin.com/rugby to learn more.
