Eliada Home Kiwanis Playground Update

We will be giving about $1800 towards the playground, which is the money raised from the silent auction at our gala.
If you are on Facebook, you can also help by sharing the Eliada Home Fundraiser Facebook page for the playground.
Unfortunately, Eric Bradford, Director of Operations of Asheville GreenWorks, had an organization issue arise that he needed to help resolve, so he was unable to make the Kiwanis meeting. Eric gave Scott Hicks gave some talking points to share with us.
Eric oversees programs ranging from water quality to urban forestry. It's his goal to make Asheville and Buncombe County environmentally sound and sustainable for many generations to come.   Established in 1973, Asheville GreenWorks, formerly Quality Forward, is Asheville’s first and oldest environmental non-profit focused on restoring our urban ecology. Their programs focus on tree canopy, waste and water quality. They engage over 3600 new volunteers annually to run 200 projects ranging from tree plantings, restoration, educational to creek and river cleanups. Asheville GreenWorks is also the home of the Tree Protection and Plastic Reduction Task-forces. Both groups work to enhance location laws surrounding urban tree canopy loss and single use plastics.

Learn more about Asheville Greenworks, or become a member and help them enhance our urban ecology.  You can also find information on the website about upcoming events such as the Spring Free Tree Giveaway  or the Hard to Recycle collection.
