Weekly News
Dear friends,
This Sunday is the 7th in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel reading, we continue with the teachings of Jesus in Matthew's Gospel, called the Sermon on the Mount. In this section Jesus tells us to love our enemies. This is one of the most startling things Jesus teaches and the hardest to get our heads around. And it is here that we must tread carefully, for we are not called to love our enemies as we do our nearest and dearest, but to actively want for them what God wants for them, repentance and forgiveness. And so often our 'loving' as Christians is not a matter of feelings but of actions, of doing to others as we would have them do to us.
