DUT’S FIONA PILLAY WINS R20 000 FOR NAMING NEW 2020-2030 STRATEGY PLAN CALLED: JUST ENVISION 2030
The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the Durban University of Technology (DUT), Professor Thandwa Mthembu made an exciting announcement, at the second annual State of the University Address (SOUA), at the Fred Crookes Sports Centre, yesterday, 26 February 2020.
He named the staff member who came up with the refreshing and impactful strategy name for the new 2020-2030 strategic plan for DUT. Miss Fiona Pillay, won R20 000 for coming up with the exciting 2020-2030 strategy plan called: Just Envision 2030.
Notions of vision, progression, growth and change were expressed by the Durban University of Technology’s Vice- Chancellor and Principal Professor Thandwa Mthembu, during the second annual State of the University Address at Indumiso Campus today, 27 February 2020.
One of the eminent themes addressed during the speech, was one of Stewardship. Professor Mthembu described this quality as the collective desires, capabilities and capacities of the DUT community to advance and guard their vision.
“This address is more about getting us on a flight to greatness, rather than gazing backwards and downwards where we are flying from,” said Prof Mthembu.
Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Electrical Engineering student, Lynton Julie was recently given a wondrous opportunity to further his postgraduate studies, after receiving funding from the Apostle Victor Glenn Smith Foundation.
The foundation aims to empower youth from the Wentworth community by investing in the futures of students studying at universities.Julie was one of five diligent young individuals from the community to receive support from the foundation.
He generously received a R20 000 donation towards his Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Power Engineering.
AMAHLE SITHOLE WAS CROWNED MISS DURBAN AND MISS GRAND DURBAN TOP MODEL 2020
Making DUT proud in her first year of studies is the talented Amahle Sithole, who won the modelling titles of Miss Durban and Miss Grand Durban Top Model 2020 respectively, in one pageant, at Albany House in Durban, on 16 February 2020.
The gorgeous lass is studying for her first-year in fashion design at DUT and could not contain her excitement over her double win.
