Celebrating Black History Month
 


Join Youth Art Exchange for Diaspora: A Celebration of Black Art in San Francisco this Saturday, February 22 from 3-5pm at [x]space (5137 Mission St). Diaspora will feature Karen Smith, Oakland-based metalsmith, jewelry maker, and founder of We Wield the Hammer (WWTH), who will be leading a free metalsmithing workshop followed by a Q+A. Free & open to the public, materials provided. RSVP to guarantee a spot!
 
Ascension: Free block printing workshop this weekend at [x]space!


YAX faculty printmaking artist Alyssa Aviles, founder of Suavecita Press, has activated [x]space with Ascension, a project chronicling and honoring the Excelsior community. All February, there will be free workshops, interactive experiences, and a culminating exhibition on February 28. Submit your photos of the Excelsior to contribute to the formation of an Excelsior District photo archive and a local art exhibit at @ascension94112. All Ascension events and workshops are all free and open to the public and located at [x]space arts hub, 5137 Mission St, and are supported by the California Arts Council.
