Snow, snow and more snow! Read on for important updates and news from the club.

A big congratulations goes out to Kate Mcllraith and Allison Caswell! They are the 2019/2020 Walden Cross Country Scholarship recipients. Both of these very talented young ladies work hard to combine school and skiing.

Kate Mcllraith

"Ever since my mom strapped me into my first pair of skis as a toddler, I haven’t gone a winter without skiing. I am currently in my 3rd year of university and varsity skiing at Guelph alongside best friend/team captain Allison. I am looking forward to finishing my degree next year in Environmental Biology and coming back home where I won’t have to roller ski in early December. Until then, I will be on the trails and racing in loppets wearing the baby blue honeycomb suit!"

Allison Caswell

“My name is Allison and I started racing in the club system with Walden when I was 15. I am currently in my third year at the University of Guelph studying towards my Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics. I race for the varsity Nordic team at Guelph and I find that it is a great way to create balance in my life as well as meet some awesome people. I greatly appreciate the support I am given by Walden even though I am no longer living in Sudbury and am always proud to represent my club on the race trails.”

Family of 4 Package (Day+Rental): $55 (Add a member for $10)
Adult Day Passes: 3 for $33
Children’s Day Passes: 3 for $15
Adult Rentals – Ski Package: 3 for $40
Children’s Rentals – Ski Package: 3 for $21

Weekday Activities:

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM, Monday - Friday
Open to kids age 6-14. Parents are encouraged to participate as well - especially if you're bringing little guys n' gals.

Trail pass and equipment rental package only $5 for children and $15 for adults! (applies between 11 and 12:30 only)

Staff and volunteers will be leading a variety of activities throughout the week such as: Ski lessons, Guided Skis, Games on Skis, Orienteering

**FRIDAY - Easter Egg Hunt

Please contact the chalet to reserve your rentals and register for an activity. Drop ins are still welcome but due to this program's popularity, we can't guarantee you a spot.

Private Ski Lessons

Walden Cross Country offers private ski lessons for children and adults with some amazing instructors (photos featured above). These lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate or even advanced skiers who want to improve their technique. It’s a great opportunity to learn how to skate as well.

FEES (Payable to Walden Cross Country):

Individual:$30 member and $35 non member
(1 hour session)
Groups of 2: $20 member and $25 non member each
(1 hour session)
3 or more: $15 member and $20 non member each
(1 hour session)

Racing Team Update
Head Coach, Marlee Clement

February has been an extremely busy month for our racing team. At the beginning of the month a group of athletes headed off to Eastern Canadian Championships in Sherbrooke Quebec. Max Mahaffy had an amazing sprint qualifier on Day 1 of racing qualifying first place. The team had numerous top 10 performances over the three days of racing! Next Stop was Ofsaa where all of our athletes had shinning performances. Patrick Wiss won Ofsaa gold in the junior boy category! This is the first time a Sudbury athlete has taken an Ofsaa title since 2012! Patrick Wiss, Kai Nener and Kaeden Ward were all apart of the Ofsaa Junior Boys Gold Medal team. Max Mahaffy and Kendyn Mashinter were both apart of the Ofsaa Senior Boys Gold Medal team. This week Walden is heading down to Southern Ontario to compete in Ontario Winter Games.
