Patrons with advanced tickets have been contacted by email and offered tickets to one of the the final three performances of Othello. Thank you for your understanding.

The Tragedy of Othello, The Moor of Venice By William Shakespeare

Believed to have been written in 1603, Othello is based on the story Un Capitano Moro (“A Moorish Captain”) by Cinthio, first published in 1565. The story of an African general in the Venetian army who is tricked into suspecting his wife of adultery, Othello is a tragedy of jealousy and deceit. First performed around 1604, the play is also a pioneering exploration of racial prejudice. Given its varied and enduring themes of racism, love, jealousy, betrayal, revenge and repentance, Othello resonates with contemporary audiences as well as it did when it premiered over 400 years ago and has been the source for numerous operatic, film, and literary adaptations. Part of the Annual Shakespeare Series.
