Loreto Highlights Update - 21 February 2020

Governors Farewell
A group of children from Year 7 represented Loreto to say their goodbyes to The Governor, Lt Gen Ed Davis and his wife as they proceeded down Main Street.

Autism Support

The Autism Support Group very kindly presented useful equipment to the school. Anne Macquisten and Bhavna Chandnani showed us the apparatus and Head boy and Head girl – Benny Hill and Isabel Simpson tried out the noise reducing head-sets. We would like to thank the Autism Support Group for their generous donation.

It's not all about sitting in the classroom!  We encourage children to play in a range of different ways at play times.
Dancing Duo
Loreto's very own Bella Weir and Molly Taylor competed in the Gibraltar International Dance Festival this week.  They won a Gold Medal for the Children Large group competing against dance schools from Spain, England and Gibraltar.

Reception Get Physical
The children have been very active in their P.E. lessons this week learning how to run from a standing start.  It was not a race and all the children were winners!
'Beat' The Music
Our lovely Nursery children were hands on this week during their Music lesson.  The children used musical instruments to learn about coordination using listening skills to play along to a beat.
Victorian Day
Victorian times came to our Year 6 children today.  The children were transported back to times of Chimney sweeps, maids, hard graft and no Wi-Fi!!!  The children were taught lessons as they would have back in the day, with the children and teachers using chalk and slate.  The boys were taught lessons including dictation, learning about how Potatoes were in short supply and Technical drawing.  With the girls separated from the boys they were off to learn about dress making, cleaning and cooking, with Rock Cakes being baked.
The children brought the day to a close by presenting 'The day in the life of a Victorian' to the Middle School children.  The Year 6 children kept in character as they answered questions about their life in Victorian Times, the children ended their presentation by singing 'Food, Glorious Food.
