Advisory: City and Health Systems Announce Expansion of Buprenorphine Prescribing Waiver


What:
The Mayor will be joined by representatives from major health systems throughout Philadelphia who are committing to expanding access to buprenorphine, a life-saving medication used to treat opioid addiction, by ensuring that their primary care practitioners obtain the waiver that allows them to prescribe it. This commitment will result in the largest single-year expansion of buprenorphine-waivered providers in Philadelphia and could lead to thousands of people more with opioid use disorder receiving treatment in primary care.
