Manitoba Animal Save joined Steinbach Animal Save on February 22 for the Manitoba Day Of Action - End Dog Sledding Cruelty protest outside the Festival du Voyageur in Winnipeg. This festival celebrates Canada's fur-trading past. They report: "This was a Canada-wide protest against the commercial dog sled industry. Festival du Voyageur did not hold a dog sledding this year but have in the past. Dog sledding is a brutal industry that exploits a husky's adapted drive of sled pulling and pack mentality, motivated by profit. No animal deserves to be abused in such a way; especially because we like the way they look.
These dogs are no different that the ones that are members of your family."

Leo Tolstoy defines the duty to bear witness as: "When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help him."

We believe 2020 and this coming decade is decisive in determining our prospects for planetary survival. By tackling animal agriculture we can reduce methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas which has a short life span in the atmosphere. Its half life is 8 years compared to CO2 which is 100 years. The Climate Save Movement is building a grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis by ending animal agriculture, reforesting the Earth and phasing out fossil fuels. Help save the planet by going vegan and promoting vegan #FoodSystemChangeNow! The climate crisis is upon us. We must rise up to mitigate and reverse it.
Cargill is destroying the planet. Our demand is that Cargill urgently switch to a plant-based food company.

Animal agriculture is a key source of greenhouse gas emissions and the leading source of ocean dead zones, deforestation, mass species extinctions, and excessive water use. The Climate Save Movement’s mission is to end animal agriculture and to reforest the Earth. Join our Planet V$ Cargill campaign to protest this ecocide and bring about the urgent plant based revolution. Animal, Climate and Health Save Movements are organizing a global day of action against Cargill which will take place on March 21!
Health Save Movement aims to show how veganism can prevent and reverse diseases related to animal products consumption, enhance food justice, and decrease spending on the health crisis.
U.S. News: Many Americans Lack Knowledge, Not Desire, to Eat Plant-Based Diets
While this article focuses on the USA, the same need for education is likely to be true elsewhere. Along with a lack of information, other barriers to eating more plant-based foods include perceived cost, taste and accessibility, according to the survey findings from the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and the Earth Day Network.
Farm Sanctuary: Joaquin Phoenix Rescues Mother Cow and Newborn Calf Day after Academy Awards Win
A day after winning the Academy Award for Best Actor—and subsequently making a headlining acceptance speech in which he spoke to the plight of mother cows and their babies used in animal agriculture—Joaquin Phoenix helped to liberate a cow and her newborn calf from a Los Angeles slaughterhouse and bring them to Farm Sanctuary. Thanks to the work of Los Angeles Animal Save, who secured their release, they will live out the rest of their lives in peace. Phoenix named the mother Liberty and her daughter Indigo.
