To give away money is an easy matter and in any man's power. But to decide to whom to give it and how large and when, and for what purpose and how, is neither in every man's power nor an easy matter.” -- Aristotle

Dear Vestpoders,

I hope you are having a good week!

Running the Vestpod events and workshops, I’m finding more and more of you are asking how you can do good with your money and investments. This is what we want to talk about this week - because even if you’re not actually investing money yet, I feel that knowing that your hard earned cash is working to change the world could help you get started. This could be the motivation you need to invest. So today we ask - is ethical investment worth it? Are we seeing a shift in how and where people invest their money?

📩We will focus on millennials with Melissa, looking at how we/they invest in line with their values and Veronica will cover what ethical banking is actually all about. We’ve interviewed Vivi about her experience with setting up financial edtech startup Blackbullion and we have our usual anonymous money diary.

🐥On my side, I am trying to slow down as I am due in a few weeks' time! But we have a few workshops coming up for you, which we will announce shortly.

Have a good day - and feel free to email me any feedback you have on the newsletter or events!

Millenials are the Driving Force Behind Ethical Investments: Here's Why It Matters

Ever heard of ESG? No, it’s not a food additive – it stands for Environmental, Social and Governance, and it’s the criteria by which younger investors are increasingly choosing where to put their money. It’s an umbrella term for the various values a company embodies as it goes about its business: does it use child labour? Does it make money from arms or gambling? How are they doing on the gender pay gap? And what are they doing to reduce carbon emissions?
