A note from my highchair... Recovery is in the air and it smells like Alano Club coffee.

Groundhog’s Day again?

Winter is almost over, yeah.  That is a glass half-full view, I know, but what did that little rodent say?  “Quit bitchin’ about the weather and let me go.” The Hog’s at the wheel of this Jeep.  He crashes every time and gets back behind the wheel.  Does that remind you of anyone?

I can relate to that movie in a personal way.  It seemed as though I woke to face the world, day after day, repeating mistakes and swearing to do something different.  I was sincere in my intentions but something happened to make me powerless once again.

How did Bill Murray’s character finally break free of that never-ending day?  He made small daily changes.  At first he was frustrated and unwilling to accept his dilemma.   As the fact of the situation sunk in, he made small positive changes.  In the end it was the selfless acts done for others that broke him free of having to relive his selfish, self-centered, nightmare.  The lyrics to “I Got You Babe” make sense in the end.

Did you know that the Thursday night 10pm meeting has changed names?  If you are looking for a “Whooper-Dooper” of a meeting, you are in the right place.  I’ll give you a hint of where that name came from, Jack Anderson article in the Saturday Evening Post.  I think they may want you to learn some AA history by reading that article.

We have had some good turnouts at the last events.  We are planning more fun reasons to come down to the club.  Watch for details on flyers and information posted on our website.

Love and Service.

Weekly Meeting Schedule
"Recovery is something like the restoration of a very old painting, covered over by layers and layers of darkening, distorted varnish ... Not all of the underlying pattern can be revealed at one time. What is uncovered, bit by bit and layer by slow, careful layer, are the things which are necessary and appropriate for me to know about myself right now."
"An Indescribable Benevolence," Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, August 1992 Step By Step
