At the State of the Union address earlier this month, President Trump honored Brig. Gen. Charles McGee, one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen. Gen. McGee, who recently turned 100 years old, flew more than 130 combat missions in World War II before serving his country in both Korea and Vietnam. In total, he flew 409 combat missions in those three wars, an astounding figure. As President Trump said, “Gen. McGee, our nation salutes you.”
I was inspired by Gen. McGee and thought we should devote this week’s episode of Newt’s World to the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African-American pilots who fought in World War II. They were part of the U.S. Army Air Forces, serving valiantly in battle.
