Work Party - 1st March 9.30am start

It's Sociable, It's Fun; It's essential for the Club; It includes a FREE lunch!   The twice yearly work party is part of what makes our club run smoothly.   On 1st March, join Ray and Roger who look after the club house and grounds, to put the club into shape for the busy Summer ahead.  The club hopes that every membership family/individual  will send a volunteer to help out with big and small tasks, inside and outside the clubhouse so that your club is ready for you and your family in the Summer.  Many hands really do make light work, and of course there is that free lunch for all who help out in the morning.   If you like working in the great outdoors, remember your wellies!   Any queries, please contact House@papercourt-sc.org.uk

A different sort of social event is also coming up..........................

Quiz Night - Saturday 4th April

This time we are supporting the RNLI with the fundraising element of our ever-popular quiz night on Saturday 4th April.   There will be a posh ploughman's supper included in the ticket price of £8.00 plus lots of fun and prizes.  Book in ones or twos, or teams up to 8 people, but book as soon as possible.   Email: snowmail@btinternet.com asap.
Training Opportunities

Papercourt is not only an active racing and cruising club, but prides itself on the extensive, volunteer run training it offers to members.  Youth training in the summer on Saturday mornings, and specific training courses throughout the year - here are the next ones coming up, and all booking now:

Spring Course for Adult Beginners - RYA level 1 and 2

Running on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings from 22nd April to 27th June,  this course is aimed at Adult Beginners and Cadets over 16, who have no, or very limited, dinghy sailing experience.  The Course works towards RYA Level 1 and 2 Certificates.  Instructors are all qualified RYA instructors who are club members.  Cost of the course £120 to include hire of club boats on the course.  Numbers are limited, so please contact training@papercourt-sc.org.uk if you have any queries, or if you would like an application form.
RYA Powerboat Course Wed 11/3 (Evening) and Fri/Sat 13/3 14/3

For anyone who would like to do Safety Boat Officer (driver) duty at Papercourt and any aspiring instructors, this is the required qualification.  Cost is a bargain £50.   If you would like further information, or would like to book, please contact Ashley on 07813 535979 or email ashley.scott102@gmail.com   Places are limited.

RYA Assistant Instructor Course

This is THE course if you are involved in helping members learn to sail, or would like to assist in the future.    It is open to Adults and youngsters, but we will not normally accept under 14s on the course. Please note that you must be a current member of PSC and comply with Club requirements regarding Wet/drysuits whilst afloat.

The course will run on Sunday 8th March and Sunday 15th March, with a shore-based session on Wednesday evening 11th March, starting at 7.00pm.  There is NO charge.

You should be a competent dinghy sailor (at least Stage 4 youth or Level 3 adult, ideally with some racing experience). Sessions will be run afloat, weather permitting, in a variety of craft. It would be an advantage if you are in possession of Level 2 powerboat qualification (see above), as instructing is frequently conducted from a powered craft, but it is not essential.

The RYA Assistant Instructor Qualification is valid for 5 years at the club where it is issued.  It is anticipated that you may wish to progress to an Instructor Course in the future, and the Assistant Instructor Course is a good foundation. The course will cover the method of teaching safely in both single-handed and double-handed boats.

The number of places is limited to ensure that the quality of the course is not compromised.

If you are interested in a place on the course, please contact Tom Key on tom_key@hotmail.com , or training@papercourt-sc.org.uk.   If you have any queries, or wish to discuss anything, please ask.

The application form can be found on the training page of the website, or click the button below
