Walking Bus

The very first Chandlers Ridge Academy Walking Bus was launched this morning.
In simple terms, a walking bus is a way for children to walk to school with their friends.
We will be meeting at the car park at Nunthorpe & Marton Recreation Ground on Guisborough Road at 8.20am each week.  Parents are invited on the short walk to school or children can be walked along the route by the volunteers in attendance.
Please come along and support this scheme.

World Book Day Events – important dates!

World Book Day Events – next week!

There's lots happening next week to celebrate World Book Day - make sure you've got your costumes and tickets ready!

First up on Thursday 5th March it's Dressing Up Day! - All children that would like to, can dress up as one of their favourite book characters for a donation of £1 (please don't forget your donation as this really does make a huge difference!).
There will be prizes for:

most imaginative costume
best home-made costume
costume made by a child
most eye-catching costume

The reading champions will be judging throughout the school day and winners will be announced!

Next up after school on Thursday 5th March is our very first Film night – EYFS & KS1 - Children from Nursery to Year 2 are invited from 4pm – 5.30pm to watch the classic, ‘The Gruffalo’.

Film night – KS2 - Children from Year 3 to Year 6 are invited to a film night on Friday 6th March at 4pm – 6pm to watch Matilda.

Tickets for both film nights are available through Parentmail for £2 and like at discos, you will receive a paper ticket for your entry. A small snack and drink will be provided for the children and we will have an interval where ice cream and ice lollies will be on sale for £1 each, please make sure you send money for the ice-cream.

Also happening for World Book Day...
  • Book and bun sale - Thursday 12th March we are going to have a book and bun sale in the School Hall.  For £1 donations each child will receive a raffle ticket and they can choose a book and a bun to take home.  Book and cake donations would be wonderful! More information about where to leave cakes to follow next week!
  • Pledge a book – don't forget you can still pledge a book until 3 April! So far we have 80 pledges which is wonderful...let's see if we can raise even more! We are asking families to pledge a book for school at a cost of £5 via Parentmail. At a night (date to follow) we would like to invite you into school to write a personal message in the books (or books!) that you and your family have pledged. With your help we really could make such a difference to the books available to our children.
We hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day whilst making a HUGE difference to the quality and quantity of books available to the children in school! This couldn't be done without your continued support...thank you!

Book Donations needed!

We desperately need donations of KS2 reading books to help towards our book and bun event in a couple of weeks. We also need younger reader's books too but KS2 is where we are really short. If you have any books you can donate please leave them in reception as soon as you can! Thanking you in advance.
