JAPAN HOUSE INTERN
WE ARE NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR 2020-2021 JAPAN HOUSE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM!

This program will provide students a powerful experience in cultural understanding and educational opportunities to assist in the development of student-focused programs as well as outreach efforts within the community.

Interns will receive 3 hours of academic credit for ARTD 299 Special Topics in Design: Japan House Internship with meetings on Tuesdays and Thursday, 2-4pm. Interns will also be introduced to Chado (Way of Tea), learn to wear yukata, whisk and serve matcha green tea, as well as learn the history and significance of Japan House.

There is an opportunity for select interns to continue working at Japan House in Spring 2021 as a paid intern position.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
+ approximately 10 hours per week giving public tours of Japan House and attending weekly meetings
+ developing and implementing public experience programs specifically targeting students
+ updating and maintaining inventory of Japan House collections including kimonos, scrolls, and Japanese objects
+ assisting in efforts through social media such as blogging, photography, and digital communications
+ general assistance in organization of Japan House facilities
+ hand-crafting items for sale at our annual fundraiser, Mottainai Bazaar in December
+ assisting in coordination, set-up and participation at Matsuri, our annual Japanese festival in August
