Ontology Hackathon

Geoscience Australia and the Australian Government Linked Data Working Group invites anyone interested in ontologies to join their ontology hackathon. Hear from experts, receive mentoring, build skills, explore common data modelling patterns and develop an ontology for your interests.

Open Data Day

An annual celebration of open data. For the tenth time, groups from around the world will create local events on the day where they will use open data in their communities. It is an opportunity to show the benefits of open data and encourage the adoption of open data policies in government, business and civil society. All outputs are open for everyone to use and reuse.

Australian Vocabulary Special Interest Group meeting

The meeting will feature two presentations on vocabulary mapping: asserting relationships between concepts in different vocabularies. One example from Les Kneebone (Australian Policy Observatory), and the other from Rowan Brownlee (ARDC). The group will discuss drivers, approach, tools, results and issues.

ALA Data Quality Project launched
The Atlas of Living Australia (ALA) has launched a Data Quality Project aiming to improve the way users access data, enhance awareness of data in the ALA and provide more information about what constitutes high quality data. It is being run as a transparent and agile project with lots of opportunities to contribute ideas, test software and comment on issues. Please take the ALA data quality baseline survey before Tuesday 10 March.
