Education.
It's a top priority for climate organizers everywhere. We know when people, regardless of politics, are educated about the science of climate change, they commit to personal and collective action.

TUE, FEB 18

It's time for the Climate Coalition to help the students of SLCUSD in their efforts to implement a District Sustainability Plan.

On February 18th, the SLO Climate Coalition will be taking action and joining a group of local students and educators at the SLCUSD School Board Meeting. The board will be considering a District Sustainability Plan that will support their own Climate Action Resolution from 2015.

The goal of the proposed plan is for SLCUSD to become a low greenhouse gas emissions school district with operations, teachers and students that thrive in a changing climate. The district would promote education and awareness on the changing climate.

Primary Objectives
  • Reduce environmental impact and costs.
  • Prepare students academically and professionally for a changing climate through environmental and sustainability education.
  • Create a sustainability action plan that provides a holistic and strategic approach to climate action.
What can I do?
Join us as we write letters and speak in support of the adoption of this plan! When: Tuesday, February 18th at 6:00
Where: Los Osos Middle School: 1555 El Moro, Los Osos
SAT, FEB 15

The SLO Climate Coalition has restructured our organization in a big way
Our "Task Force" has become a "Leadership Team" and our initiatives, starting in 2020 are up to YOU. yes, YOU.

If you have a project idea that will help reduce carbon emissions in SLO or SLO County... or support another one of our strategic initiatives, stay tuned. We will soon have an easy process for your idea to become a reality.

Check out the presentation we gave at our January 16th meeting (especially page 12 and 13). In there, you'll find our new structure and vision for the future!
