Say Goodbye to Back Pain

This workshop is an opportunity to learn about powerful and effective ways of helping yourself to become free from back and neck pain. Philippa will introduce you to the Alexander Technique and the Feldenkrais Method®, approaches which teach improved integration of skeleton, muscles and nervous system. By giving your brain and body a chance to experience a better way of being organized, you can develop healthier postural patterns, improve strength and flexibility and reduce the frequency and severity of many back problems. A greater understanding of the mind/body connection is also a powerful tool for reducing anxiety and alleviating chronic tension.

TREATMENTS & THERAPIES

Thai Yoga Massage

Thai massage combines:

  • focused and sustained pressure on muscles and along sen (energy) lines using thumbs, palms, elbows and knees

  • passive stretching and mobilising (sometimes described as having 'yoga done to you') that works with your breath

Thai massage releases muscular tension, reduces stress and builds fitness.  Like yoga, it can produce a range of physiological and emotional effects:

  • release mental and emotional tension

  • relieve tension in knotted muscles

  • increase feeling of support, strength and relaxation

  • improve flexibility and range of movement

  • reduce inflammation, pain and stiffness

Common problems addressed by Thai massage are:

  • stress and general fatigue

  • muscle tightness, aching and inflexibililty

  • poor posture

  • ankle strains/sprains and lower leg stiffness

  • lower back pain

  • sciatica

  • hip and leg pain

  • abdominal pain and stomach problems

  • shoulder stiffness

  • neck stiffness and related headaches

Preparation

To allow for maximum movement and benefit, it is important to wear loose, comfortable and non-shiny / non-slippy clothing.

It is best not to eat a large meal before a massage.

What to expect

Thai massage treatments are fully-clothed, without the use of oils and usually take place on a dense cotton mat on the floor.  The massage can be done whilst you are lying on your front, back, side and / or sitting and can be adapted to take place on a table or chair.

A session lasts between 60 - 120 minutes and can include the full body or focus upon particular areas of tension.  The first session is usually a little longer than any follow-on sessions, as it includes time for a chat about your health and lifestyle, as well as how you would like to benefit from the session.

Sessions are available at Swansea Wellbeing Centre* on Friday afternoons

Please enquire about concessionary rates if the cost is prohibitive.  Sessions need to be booked via email, text, or calling on hello@satiyogawales.com or 07814 551560

We are offering wonderful relaxing massages, reflexology, back care specialist, acupuncture, crystal healing, mindfulness, counselling & psychotherapy.
