Please join us for special vigils to speak up against Bill 156. The Ford Conservative government is trying to quickly push this bill through before anyone is even aware of it. If passed, this bill would make it illegal for you or I to take photos, video, or expose the suffering of farmed animals. Animal agriculture, already, almost entirely hides what is happening to animals from public view and this law will push their suffering even further into the darkness. Ag-gag laws such as this, in the U.S., have been stuck down as unconstitutional. Join us to be their voice and say No!

Say NO to Bill 156!
We had a great turnout on February 16 for the Roaring Silence Against Bill 156 protest & march. Hundreds of leaflets were handed out to warn the public about this dangerous bill that would keep Farmed animals even further in the dark and at the mercy of those who want to hide them.

Toronto Now magazine was there to report: Demonstrators march against hiding animal abuse on farms

Canadians are speaking out against the Ford Government’s Bill 156. Check out stopbill156.com to sign the petition, learn more and get involved in stopping this outrageous bill which would effectively ban bearing witness in Ontario!

Please sign and share our petition, which has around 35,000 signatures: Stop Ontario's Ag Gag Law

Guelph Cow Save & KW Animal Save report from their vigil on February 12 at the Cargill slaughter plant in Guelph: "We successfully stopped and bore witness to eight trucks, one of them carrying dairy cows who were still lactating. There is nothing humane that happens in the 'dairy' and 'beef' industries. Families are separated and bodies are exploited. Their bodies, their lives."

Leo Tolstoy defines the duty to bear witness as: "When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help him."

We believe 2020 and this coming decade is decisive in determining our prospects for planetary survival. By tackling animal agriculture we can reduce methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas which has a short life span in the atmosphere. Its half life is 8 years compared to CO2 which is 100 years. The Climate Save Movement is building a grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis by ending animal agriculture, reforesting the Earth and phasing out fossil fuels. Help save the planet by going vegan and promoting vegan #FoodSystemChangeNow! The climate crisis is upon us. We must rise up to mitigate and reverse it.

SAVE'S ANIMAL RESCUES

URUGUAY
Montevideo Horse Save helped rescue Valiente, who was exploited for years but is now receiving the care he needs: "Valiente was used to load firewood. For years he was a worker with no more pay than a little water and food. When he was injured in one of his hind legs, his exploiter left him die without water and food as if he were a broken machine. Thanks to an anonymous call, Montevideo Horse save went to look for him. We went to see him and he is recovering, eating a lot and is able to keep standing. After weeks without food and water this is super positive and is due to people who are involved in saving lives. These photos are from the day we rescued him and took him to the University of Veterinary Medicine for treatment and recovery."

Here he is in sanctuary, enjoying life.

Rostock Animal Save & Schwerin Animal Save held a vigil on February 15 to protest the "Slaughter Fest," which they describe as "the annual slaughter festival takes place at the district agricultural museum in the village of Mecklenburg. There, an already slaughtered pig is scalded in front of hundreds of people - including many children - the bristles are removed, the body is gutted, cut in half and then examined by a veterinarian. The whole process is moderated in a 'relaxed, amusing way' by the master butcher himself."
