"Follow --> Fish"
16 Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
Mark 1:16-17 ESV
Follow --> Fish
That's always been God's plan.
He invites us to follow Him, to learn from Him, to imitate Him. And in the process He changes us. He makes us more like Himself. He not only alters our character but He gives us a passion to invite others to follow Him as well.
That's what He meant when He said the disciples would become "fishers of men" ... they would help Him gather all those who would believe in Him like a fisherman gathering the fish in a net.
So how about you? Have you chosen to follow Jesus? Are listening to Him, learning from Him, and trying to imitate Him? If so, then He will make you a "fisher of men". He will increase your (com)passion and desire to serve, love, and share with the world around you.
If that's not yet true, we may not be following Him as close as we think!
